My coursera courses begin at the end of January. I'm excited to learn new information that I can apply to my teaching, but I'm nervous because my time constraints are so tight.
I was thrown into an E-Learning teaching environment with very few tools. I have internet service that is reliable most of the time. I have an ipad. When anyone asks me what it's like to teach this way, I respond, "Imagine, you entire class is in a box this big." I spent many of my first days with my nose pressed to the ipad, just trying to figure out who was talking. And... I have Facetime that cuts in and out. Seriously, that's it. That's my full arsenal of tools for teaching a foreign language to students that are 25 miles away.
So, despite my time constraints, I'm desperate to find alternative avenues. Coursera is the first avenue I've found that might actually help me to teach. Early on, I dubbed this "The Year I Didn't Teach".
